Paradox Lake, NY
Idlewild Beach

Located on Smith Bay, Idlewild Beach was a great place for swimming and boat rentals for vacationers in the cabins.

Paradox Lake from the Air

We have only seen a few Paradox Lake postcards floating around.  This older Dean Color postcard boasts of the lake's clear water.

Paradox Lake History - Idlewild

Back in the day, Idlewild was comprised of a series of cabins on the lake, along with the Idlewild Store.  Today, the "cabins" are now private lake front summer homes.

Our Friends

Dora
If you're wondering about the Dora sandwich on our menu, its named after this wonderful lady.  Dora is a Paradox resident who has become a wonderful friend.  We look forward to her visits and if you're lucky, you will meet her as well in the store.

Pauline

Pauline is another friend and longtime resident of Paradox.  She visits and dines with us often and it's always a treat.  When things get busy around here it is not surprising to see her jump in the deli to lend a hand.  At 92 she still loves to work!  In her spare time Pauline knits and crochets and if you need some cozy slippers we offer some of them here.

Bob and Donna

Bob and Donna Searles were the first friends we made in this area.  They are from Schroon Lake in the summer and Michigan during the colder months to be with their family.  They have been more than friends as they helped us with the overwhelming task of getting the store open.  When you see all the beautiful flowers around the store, you can think Donna!  She has a green thumb, the likes of which I've never known.  Bob helps with just about anything you can think of.

Jane and Foster

Jane and Foster are friends we have made in Paradox.  You will often find them swimming the lake so look out for them!!

Lance

You can find Lance here for breakfast or lunch usually.  He also takes care of all our snow plowing needs along with help from his son, Lance Jr.  Lance has been great moral support for us in this new endevor as well.
